This salamander (adult male with prominent cirri) was found in low vegetation during a night search in Sierra Gorda (Querétaro,
Mexico). Its full description could be viewed
here. Several experts who examined these images, including Dr. J. R. Dixon (Texas A&M University), suggested that it might
be a new species. This might also be a very bright male of
P. c. rubrimembris. Mexican lungless salamanders remain insufficiently known, and identification of live animals without collection
of a tissue sample or a specimen is problematic.
